Preacher: David Pickard

Sermon Notes: “Why Is Lordship Necessary?” (Part 1)

I. It settles the position issue. (Who is #1 in my life?)

Jesus was not “position conscious” for 3 reasons (John 13:3):
1) He knew what he possessed.
2) He knew who He was (that He had come forth from God
3) He knew where he was going (back to God).

God is to be Lord in our . . .
1. Salvation (Romans 10:9).
2. Everyday Life (Col. 3:23).
3. Business (Romans 12:11).
4. Family (Ephesians 5:22,25).

II. It settles the permission issue. (Who has a right to my life?)
Observations:
1. Not everyone is ready for Lordship (fact).
2. Lordship is more than words
3. Jesus sees our hearts He knows us.
4. Lordship forces us to change.
Lordship means . . . (Luke 9:57-62)
1. Accepting the future regardless of the cost (vs 57-58).
2. Leaving the past regardless of the pull (vs. 61-62).
3. Seizing the moment regardless of the inconvenience (vs. 59-60).
